Jaipur’s first JW Marriott opens in the pink city

Marriott International has announced the opening of the JW Marriott Jaipur Resort & Spa, marking the debut of the brand in Jaipur, India’s fabled ‘Pink City’. Nestled among the green hills of the ancient Aravalli Range in the state of Rajasthan, the 200-room, five-star JW Marriott Jaipur Resort & Spa features the region’s rich tapestry of history, heritage and culture.

The JW Marriott Jaipur is inspired by the regal palaces of Rajasthan featuring grand arches, fountains, intricate ‘Jaali’ metalwork, delicate inlays and hand-painted patterns in a classical blue-and-white palette. The resort features 200 luxurious guest rooms, villas and suites, including Royal Terrace Rooms, Royal Courtyard Rooms and Royal Pool Villas with private plunge pools, as well as two-bedroom Palace and Presidential Suites.

Dining options are Mohan Mahal, the hotel’s intimate fine dining restaurant, offering exquisite Rajasthani cuisine and Mughali ‘Thali’ menus. Sukh Mahal is an all-day dining restaurant serving international cuisine with indoor and outdoor seating. Hawa Mahal is a rooftop restaurant offering an unforgettable al fresco dining experience accompanied by live music. Guests can enjoy coffee or cocktails along with a wide selection of hors d’ oeuvres at Jharokha, the hotel’s bar and lounge, or select from a menu of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to pair with light bites at Preet Mahal.

The resort has indoor and outdoor banqueting venues of over 52,000 square feet, featuring multi-functional event spaces equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual systems, including a 11,000 square feet pillarless ballroom.

The hotel offers a ‘Spa la Carte’ menu, with personalised consultations and treatments designed around natural local produce. The hotel has an all-weather outdoor pool as well as a fully-equipped fitness centre. The resort also features a range of enriching activities such as yoga and meditation sessions, visits to nearby villages for a first-hand experience of traditional Rajasthani life, special excursions to the nearby ‘Haathi Gaon’ to spend a day with elephants and curated culinary experiences to discover the secrets of spices in Indian cuisine.

Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center is the 100th hotel of the hospitality major Marriott International in India. Their 360 rooms across eight categories includes 39 suites, equipped with high speed internet access and a 48-inch LED flat-screen television, among other amenities. The Shine Spa for Sheraton offers five treatment rooms and recreational facilities include a swimming pool and a fitness centre. F&B options are spread over five outlets including the poolside bar, a grill and a barbecue restaurant. The Grand Ballroom, which can accommodate 2000 guests, is a part of the 6072 square metres of event space comprising 12 meeting rooms in the property complimenting the adjoining convention centre.

Hyatt opens fifth Hyatt Place in Tamil Nadu

Hyatt Place Rameswaram, has opened in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The 101-key hotel is the first Hyatt Place to open in the state of Tamil Nadu and the fifth Hyatt Place hotel to open in India. Each room comes with a swivelling 42-inch HDTV, Hyatt grand bed and cozy corner sectional sofa. Facilities include a restaurant, poolside bar, complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, 24-hour gym, outdoor swimming pool, as well as more than 440m2 of function space.

Hyatt Place Rameswaram is situated in the heart of the Rameswaram, close to the holy Ramanathaswamy Temple and Agni Theertham, one of Rameswaram’s sacred bodies of water, as well as the house of former Indian president Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The holy city of Rameswaram is located on an island connected through the famous Pamban Bridge to mainland India. It is one of the four renowned “Chaar Dham” pilgrimage spots in the country and a place of great interest for both domestic and international travellers.

Among the F&B offerings are the Gallery Kitchen breakfast stocked with South Indian and international vegetarian specialties, along with the 24/7 Gallery Menu and Market serving made-to-order vegetarian entrees and appetizers around the clock. Coffee to Cocktails Bar featuring specialty coffees and premium beers, as well as wines, cocktails and mocktails by the poolside.


ITC Kohenur opens in Hyderabad

ITC Hotels has opened the ITC Kohenur in Hyderabad, the group’s 12th hotel in its luxury hotel portfolio. Located in the heart of Hyderabad’s new business district, overlooking the picturesque Durgam Cheruvu Lake in Hitec City, the hotel offers 271 high technology enabled rooms, suites and service apartments, six culinary brands reflecting ITC’s tradition of culinary excellence, state-of-the-art meeting and convention spaces and the Kaya Kalp spa. A tech feature is the amalgamation of all services through the E-Butler iPad.

ITC’s signature brand of culinary excellence is reflected in the six distinct food and beverage destinations including Begum’s, showcasing influences from the royal kitchens of Hyderabad. ITC Kohenur will also house Yi Jing, featuring classic and creative Chinese cuisine. The group’s pan-Italian outlet, Ottimo complements the Skypoint Bar on the rooftop, offering a picturesque view of the Hyderabad skyline. The 24/7 Golconda Pavilion restaurant will showcase inventive international cuisine along with a large ‘Local Love’ repertoire featuring Telangana and Andhra favourites. Complementing the expansive glass frontage overlooking the gardens and the pool, the Peacock bar offers an extensive collection of fine beverages.

This includes the pillarless Deccan State room, which can be divided into two separate halls, each with its own pre-function area. The hotel also boasts two sprawling outdoor venues, the Pearl Deck and the Golconda greens that are suitable for a range of theme events, corporate functions, celebrations and parties.

Pantheon Iconic Rome Hotel opens

Autograph Collection Hotels, Marriott International’s distinctive collection of independent hotels, has announced the opening of The Pantheon Iconic Rome Hotel, in the heart of Italy’s capital, just steps from The Pantheon. Each of the 79 individually-designed guest rooms, including 20 suites, features custom-built furniture and furnishings and original works of art. Guests can enjoy a 360-degree view of the surrounding rooftops, seven domes including The Pantheon and the city beyond from the Divinity Terrace Lounge Bar, six stories above street level.


Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty opens on the Kochi waterfront

Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty, the third hotel branded in India as a Grand Hyatt, has opened. The 264-room luxury hotel is a waterfront urban resort situated in Kochi, in Kerala. It is one of the largest event spaces in South India.

Designed by architects from Wimberly Allison Tong and Coo UK, Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty is located near the historic town of Fort Kochi. The resort is owned by Lulu Group International and is adjacent to the sprawling Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre. Spread over 10,000 square metres, this convention centre is one of the largest in South India’s leisure destination.

The hotel features 264 guest rooms including 38 suites and to experience Kerala’s tranquil backwaters, the hotel has a private jetty.

Malabar Café is an all-day-dinning modern café that offers traditional Kerala and South Indian recipes fired with Malabar spices while Thai Soul, the vibrant poolside restaurant, is inspired by authentic Bangkok street food. Colony Clubhouse & Grill is a classy Old-world grill on the hotel’s roof top with a hint of local flavour with Colonial and Arab influences and an emphasis on seafood, with some mesmerising backwater views of the Vembanad Lake.

Śāntata, the luxurious spa, offers a modern wellness experience with traditional Ayurveda and contemporary international spa treatments. Spanning over 1,000 square metres, the spa features seven treatment rooms, an indoor swimming pool, relaxation lounges, and a hydrotherapy area. The hotel also features a landscaped outdoor swimming pool and children’s pool, a water-side amphitheatre, exploration gardens, including a spice garden, a 24-hour fitness centre, an outdoor Yoga lawn, a tennis court, a children’s play area and a hair and beauty salon and three helipads.


Fairmont opens Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi

Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi, located on the Shaviyani Atoll in North Maldives, has opened. The resort, which boasts of one of the country’s largest resort lagoons, offers 112 luxury villas, each with a private pool.

The 112 villas are categorized based on the island’s stunning topography while copper bathroom fittings and carved wood detailing on furniture lend the villas a bohemian rustic feel.  Adjacent to the main all-day dining restaurant, the intimate Raha Market Bar is a relaxed space for aperitifs or digestifs.  At the all-bamboo Onu Onu, loungers and fire pits add to the laid-back poolside atmosphere while sundowners are enjoyed at the Kata Roof Top Bar and lounge which overlooks the entire western side of the island.

The Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Maldives is set in the 2,000 square metre wellness area with the use of endemic herbs and Indian Ocean-inspired treatments. The architectural design features hand-carved wooden doors, with sea breeze passages designed to draw fresh sea air into the treatment rooms. A dedicated Olympic size Jacuzzi pool is provided for spa guests for pre or post treatment immersion.

Sirru Fen Fushi, which means ‘secret water island’ in the local Dhivehi language, is set on an exceptionally lush island bursting with flora and fauna. Homage is paid to the abundant sea life and pristine coral house reef surrounding this world-class resort with the  Maldives’ first coral regeneration project in the form of an underwater art installation created by celebrated underwater naturalist and artist Jason deCaires Taylor. The resort features 200 metres of infinity pools as well as luxury safari-style tented villas nestled in the island’s lush interior jungle. The hitherto untouched location has allowed marine life to flourish, with manta rays, turtles, large pods of bottlenose dolphins and spinner dolphins regular visitors in the crystal-clear waters of the 600-hectare lagoon. The nine kilometre-long house reef, directly accessible from the beach, is home to vibrant corals and a thriving ecosystem teeming with life. Uniquely, a manta ray cleaning station at the house reef, offers guests a rare close and extended glimpse of one of the world’s most majestic marine creatures, many of which drop by.


Novotel Kochi Infopark opens in Kerala

AccorHotels and the MuthootPappachan Group, have announced the launch of Novotel Kochi Infopark, situated in the heart of the IT Hub of Kochi, KakkanadInfopark and Wonderla Kochi, Kerala’s largest state-of-the-art amusement park.

Novotel Kochi Infopark is one of the first international midscale brands to debut in the industrial zone. The first Novotel in Kochi, the hotel is a 40-minute drive from the Kochi International Airport and 30-minute drive to the Ernakulam Railway station.

Featuring 128 rooms including eight suites and a room designed specifically for the specially-abled, with signature in-room amenities and WiFi, the hotel offers a blend of local and international art elements of the city. Kochi has a cosmopolitan culture, highly influenced by its historical trading partners, the Portuguese, Dutch, Arab, Chinese, and Japanese.

Inspired by the rich culinary legacy of Kochi, guests can choose from an extensive selection of cuisines at three of the hotel’s food and beverage outlets. The Square is an all-day dining restaurant that offers a wide selection of quintessential Malabari delicacies and an array of local and international cuisines with live action stations that feature freshly prepared snacks. The Bar serves a range of single malts, cocktails, mocktails and spirits while The Sun Deck Bar on the sixth floor offers a lip-smacking melange of Indian culinary creations and live grills.

Recreational facilities include an infinity pool, gym and a dedicated kid’s corner. For meetings and events, the hotel boasts three meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 200 guests.
