Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty opens on the Kochi waterfront

Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty, the third hotel branded in India as a Grand Hyatt, has opened. The 264-room luxury hotel is a waterfront urban resort situated in Kochi, in Kerala. It is one of the largest event spaces in South India.

Designed by architects from Wimberly Allison Tong and Coo UK, Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty is located near the historic town of Fort Kochi. The resort is owned by Lulu Group International and is adjacent to the sprawling Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre. Spread over 10,000 square metres, this convention centre is one of the largest in South India’s leisure destination.

The hotel features 264 guest rooms including 38 suites and to experience Kerala’s tranquil backwaters, the hotel has a private jetty.

Malabar Café is an all-day-dinning modern café that offers traditional Kerala and South Indian recipes fired with Malabar spices while Thai Soul, the vibrant poolside restaurant, is inspired by authentic Bangkok street food. Colony Clubhouse & Grill is a classy Old-world grill on the hotel’s roof top with a hint of local flavour with Colonial and Arab influences and an emphasis on seafood, with some mesmerising backwater views of the Vembanad Lake.

Śāntata, the luxurious spa, offers a modern wellness experience with traditional Ayurveda and contemporary international spa treatments. Spanning over 1,000 square metres, the spa features seven treatment rooms, an indoor swimming pool, relaxation lounges, and a hydrotherapy area. The hotel also features a landscaped outdoor swimming pool and children’s pool, a water-side amphitheatre, exploration gardens, including a spice garden, a 24-hour fitness centre, an outdoor Yoga lawn, a tennis court, a children’s play area and a hair and beauty salon and three helipads.

Fairmont opens Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi

Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi, located on the Shaviyani Atoll in North Maldives, has opened. The resort, which boasts of one of the country’s largest resort lagoons, offers 112 luxury villas, each with a private pool.

The 112 villas are categorized based on the island’s stunning topography while copper bathroom fittings and carved wood detailing on furniture lend the villas a bohemian rustic feel.  Adjacent to the main all-day dining restaurant, the intimate Raha Market Bar is a relaxed space for aperitifs or digestifs.  At the all-bamboo Onu Onu, loungers and fire pits add to the laid-back poolside atmosphere while sundowners are enjoyed at the Kata Roof Top Bar and lounge which overlooks the entire western side of the island.

The Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Maldives is set in the 2,000 square metre wellness area with the use of endemic herbs and Indian Ocean-inspired treatments. The architectural design features hand-carved wooden doors, with sea breeze passages designed to draw fresh sea air into the treatment rooms. A dedicated Olympic size Jacuzzi pool is provided for spa guests for pre or post treatment immersion.

Sirru Fen Fushi, which means ‘secret water island’ in the local Dhivehi language, is set on an exceptionally lush island bursting with flora and fauna. Homage is paid to the abundant sea life and pristine coral house reef surrounding this world-class resort with the  Maldives’ first coral regeneration project in the form of an underwater art installation created by celebrated underwater naturalist and artist Jason deCaires Taylor. The resort features 200 metres of infinity pools as well as luxury safari-style tented villas nestled in the island’s lush interior jungle. The hitherto untouched location has allowed marine life to flourish, with manta rays, turtles, large pods of bottlenose dolphins and spinner dolphins regular visitors in the crystal-clear waters of the 600-hectare lagoon. The nine kilometre-long house reef, directly accessible from the beach, is home to vibrant corals and a thriving ecosystem teeming with life. Uniquely, a manta ray cleaning station at the house reef, offers guests a rare close and extended glimpse of one of the world’s most majestic marine creatures, many of which drop by.

Novotel Kochi Infopark opens in Kerala

AccorHotels and the MuthootPappachan Group, have announced the launch of Novotel Kochi Infopark, situated in the heart of the IT Hub of Kochi, KakkanadInfopark and Wonderla Kochi, Kerala’s largest state-of-the-art amusement park.

Novotel Kochi Infopark is one of the first international midscale brands to debut in the industrial zone. The first Novotel in Kochi, the hotel is a 40-minute drive from the Kochi International Airport and 30-minute drive to the Ernakulam Railway station.

Featuring 128 rooms including eight suites and a room designed specifically for the specially-abled, with signature in-room amenities and WiFi, the hotel offers a blend of local and international art elements of the city. Second Conrad Hotel opens in Bengaluru

The Conrad Bengaluru is the recently-launched luxury hotel providing excellent accessibility to prime business, technology, art and entertainment districts. This hotel is the second Conrad property after Conrad Pune, in India.  Situated 24 stories high in the city’s Central Business District, Conrad Bengaluru offers 285 guest rooms including 21 suites with views of the Ulsoor Lake. The hotel also features amongst the largest meeting and event spaces in the city. Five dining and bar options including Tiamo – a Mediterranean bistro; Mikusu – for Oriental dining; Indian Durbar – for classical Indian cuisine; The Lobby Brew – a lounge; and Caraway Kitchen – four open concept kitchens from India, East Asia, Italy, The Americas. Rooms are equipped with intuitive motion sensing technology. Upon sensing motion in the room, the air conditioning switches from energy-saving mode to cool, the curtains in the room automatically open and ambient lighting turns on to match the time of the day. Guests can also self-calibrate their room temperature and curtain according to their preference.

Conrad Bengaluru has one of largest meetings and events spaces in the city with 17,000 square feet of space including a 7,610-square-feet ballroom, a junior ballroom, six meeting rooms and a boardroom. The meetings and events spaces feature private conference facility entrance, generous pre-function areas and state-of-the-art technology.

Novotel Goa Dona Sylvia Resort opens

The Novotel Goa Dona Sylvia Resort has opened in south Goa. A few minutes from the Cavelossim beach, the property offers 181 rooms, suites and villas spread across 20 acres and is designed with a Mediterranean and Goan Portuguese flavour. The Mama Mia Grill beside the swimming pool serves impromptu delicacies, while cocktails are galore at the Tia Maria Bar. The Amalia Bar has an outdoor sit-out to enjoy the sunsets and the classic murals by the famed Goan artist, Mario Miranda. Seagull is the all-day dining restaurant while Kebabs & Kurries offers Indian cuisine. Two meeting rooms offer conference space for 200 guests while the outdoor seaside lawn space can host 3000 people.

Royal Orchid uncorks Regenta Resort Soma Vine Village

Royal Orchid Hotels has opened its new hotel in Nashik called ‘Regenta Resort Soma Vine Village’. Nashik is popularly known as the wine capital of the country and has gained immense popularity. Regenta Resort Soma Vine Village offers 32 rooms in boutique accommodation with varied dining and banquet facilities.

Six Senses opens two city hotels in Singapore

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has announced the latest project in the group’s expanding portfolio with its first two city hotels in Singapore; Six Senses Duxton and Six Senses Maxwell. Located in the heart of Singapore’s Chinatown, this conservation project will be split across two locations and see the restoration of two existing heritage buildings – the last to be developed in the city.

Le Grand Amman Jordan rebranded

AccorHotels have announced the rebranding of a prominent landmark hotel in Jordan to Le Grand Amman – managed by AccorHotels. The property consisting of 298-rooms and 67 serviced apartments was launched in partnership with Iskan Co. for Touristic & Hotel Investments.
Le Grand Amman is situated in close proximity to the upcoming Abdali Downtown Project. Catering towards a growing number of business travellers, the hotel is located at the centre of the Shmeisani commercial hub close to key ministries like the Ministry of Trade and Ministry of Interior. Business travellers also have access to eight meeting rooms in addition to the largest ballroom in Amman for large-scale events and family occasions.

Puro Group opens Mexican beach club

Puro Group has opened its first Mexican beach club in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Purobeach offers an ‘Urban Oasis’ on the rooftop of exclusive new ‘The Fives Downtown Hotel & Residences’, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. The beach club overlooks the Riviera Maya. Canopy Hilton to open in Zagreb

Hilton and Zagreb City Hotels have announced the development plans for Canopy by Hilton Zagreb. The project is scheduled to open in late 2018. The hotel will be the first Canopy in continental Europe and will be situated in downtown Zagreb, close to the city’s main rail station. Canopy by Hilton Zagreb joins two Hilton properties in Croatia – DoubleTree by Hilton Zagreb and Hilton Imperial Dubrovik.
