Turkey has begun attracting large Indian MICE groups, adding to the many smaller incentive travel and meetings that it has been sourcing from India. In the last week of April, Turkey hosted a MICE group of 1,000 employees from India’s Titan Industries and another large group from Max Insurance in the first week of May. The Turkish Tourism Board in India has revealed that the number of MICE groups travelling to Turkey from India has increased in recent months and that they are receiving many enquiries from agencies and corporates alike for large MICE groups to Turkey.
The Turkish Tourism Board in India hosted a MICE familiarisation tour to Turkey for representatives of leading PCOs like Fountainhead, Thomas Cook, Cox & Kings, FCM, Ease my Trip, 7 Wonders World, One Above – A truly Global DMC and Enrich India. The carefully curated itinerary helped showcase the best of hotels and destinations to the group. The MICE stakeholders group visited Izmir, the ancient city of Ephesus and Antalya.
“Istanbul and Antalya have been listed among the ‘Top Five cities in Europe’ in terms of the international tourist arrivals in 2018. Istanbul and Antalya hosted 13.5 million and 12.5 million tourists respectively in 2018. MICE travel from India is our big focus and we expect the numbers to increase this year,” said H Deniz ERSÖZ, Culture & Tourism Counsellor for the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office in India.
