The 26-year-old luxury hotel group GHM has appointed Tommy Lai as its CEO. A Singaporean citizen, Lai will assume some responsibilities currently managed by GHM co-founder and president, Hans R Jenni, but Lai’s primary role is to spearhead the development opportunities and to drive GHM’s overall growth ambitions.
Lai joins GHM after six years with the Thailand-based Onyx Hospitality Group, where he led their North Asia operation from Hong Kong. He has well-rounded understanding of the hospitality industry,
Musa Yusof, a familiar face to the Malaysian travel industry stakeholders, has been appointed the new director general of Tourism Malaysia, succeeding Mirza Mohammad Taiyab who has recently retired.
Prior to his appointment, Musa was Tourism Malaysia’s senior director, international promotion division (Asia/Africa). He joined Tourism Malaysia (then known as Tourist Development Corporation of Malaysia) in 1990, as assistant director of enforcement and facilitation division. Since then, he has worked in several key positions including as special officer (tourism) to the then culture, arts & tourism minister Sabbaruddin Chik. Musa was also the director of Tourism Malaysia Paris office from 1998 until 2003.
His experience in Tourism Malaysia includes market development, corporate, international promotion, promotional support and domestic marketing.
Subhankar Bose has been appointed general manager at Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Hotel. Bose brings a wealth of over 17 years of operational experience, with expertise in hospitality operations and management.
Prior to this role, Bose served as the resident manager at JW Marriott Hotel Bengaluru where he was responsible for efficient operations of the property. He has also served a long stint with Hyatt Hotels in India with various roles in the rooms division.
Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre and Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) has appointed Manish Dayya as the new general manager. He brings with him over two decades of experience in the hospitality industry. He has been with AccorHotels since 2013 and has held multiple roles across various locations in India.
Dayya has experience working with leading domestic and international brands. He joined AccorHotels Group as the general manager of Novotel Goa Resort & Spa and Novotel Goa Shrem Hotel. He then went on to head the operations of Novotel Lavasa, Mercure Lavasa and Lavasa International Convention Centre as the area general manager. Prior to the Hyderabad appointment he was the General Manager of Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach.

Subroto Banerjee has been appointed as general manager of Mövenpick Hotel Sylhet, the first Mövenpick-branded property in Bangladesh. Banerjee has been a part of the Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ team in roles as the general manager in hotels in India and Saudi Arabia since 2014.
He first started his hospitality career more than 30 years ago and has worked for major hotel brands in India including Oberoi, Sheraton and Hyatt Regency. As a specialist in F&B, Banerjee later moved to Oman to manage the main restaurant at the former InterContinental Muscat.
Upon returning to India, Banerjee assumed senior management roles for a series of prestigious hospitality projects, eventually becoming general manager of Starwood’s Aloft Bengaluru Whitefield hotel in 2012.
Sheraton Grand Bangalore Hotel at Brigade Gateway has appointed Radhika Dewan as director of sales. Dewan comes with over 10 years of experience in the sales and marketing domain.
Prior to Sheraton Grand Bangalore Hotel, Dewan was DoS at Fairfield by Marriott Rajajinagar where she was involved in strategic implementation and development of the hotel. Subsequently, she was associated with other Marriott and Accor properties like JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu, JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar, Renaissance Hotel & Convention Centre, Lakeside Chalet, Mumbai; Courtyard by Marriott Mumbai International Airport.
Farhan Hamidani has been appointed as the new director of sales for the Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach. Prior to joining AccorHotels, Farhan was with Hyatt hotels for nine years where his first assignment was with Grand Hyatt Mumbai in the food and beverage sector. He later moved to Hyatt Regency Mumbai in the sales front and then transferred to Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa as the associate director of sales. A master’s degree in business management studies is critical to his role at Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach.
Piiyush Kapoor has been appointed as the general manager for JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort and Spa, Marriott International’s first JW Marriott resort in India. A seasoned hotelier, Kapoor brings close to two decades of proficiency in the hospitality industry.
Kapoor has been associated with leading domestic and international brands holding key positions which have further sharpened his expertise. His journey as a leader in the hospitality industry started in 2007 with Holiday Inn, Manali followed by Crowne Plaza, Mussoorie and The Lalit, Jaipur. He takes over his latest mandate from being general manager at Radisson Blue Udaipur Palace Resort & Spa.
Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre has appointed Said Salim Al-Shanfari as chief executive officer.
Al-Shanfari has rich experience working in leadership roles in marketing and communications across Oman as well as in the region. He successfully completed Oman’s National CEO Programme in 2017. The National CEO Programme benefits individuals and corporations, preparing Oman’s brightest talent to compete in the global marketplace. With his leadership skills and experience from the CEO program, Al-Shanfari aims to promote Oman and OCEC as a hub for regional and international conferences and exhibitions along with live events.
Al-Shanfari brings with him a wealth of experience as he progressed through various management positions during his eight-year tenure in Ooredoo Oman as director of business marketing and most recently as the general manager of marketing communication and performance at Omantel.

Banyan Tree Phuket has appointed Shannon Creado as the new area director of sales and marketing. Creado’s successful career spans across 24 years, including 20 years in sales and marketing. He brings extensive experience across Asia.
Born and educated in India, Creado began his hospitality career in 1999, rising through the ranks until he became director of sales and marketing for Goa Marriott Resort in 2006. He later took on similar positions in other Marriott resorts in Asia, as well as Anantara and MINOR Hotels. These positions, located in South Korea, Sri Lanka, India and Thailand, have allowed Creado to increase his familiarity with the extended Asian market.
Creado has received several awards and accolades during the course of his career including the “Young Hotel Sales & Marketing Manager of the Year” Award from the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India, as well as Marriott International’s Chairman’s Circle Award. He was also “Manager of the Year” in Marriott’s first year of operation in India.
Simeon Olle has been appointed as the general manager of Waldorf Astoria Bangkok. Prior to joining Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, Olle served as general manager of the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund from 2012 to 2016.
Olle has more than 30 years’ experience in the hospitality sector and is known for launching luxury hotels, including the opening of The Address Downtown Dubai, Park Hyatt Beijing and Park Hyatt Seoul.
Nicholas Dumbell is now the general manager of Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel.
He joins Renaissance Mumbai from Bengaluru Whitefield Marriott where he served as general manager since 2014. During his previous stint, he was awarded the ‘General Manager of the year 2016’ title by Marriott International, Asia Pacific. Previously, he was closely involved in the conceptual development and design of the Renaissance Kiev Hotel and also led Breadsall Priory Marriott Hotel and Country Club, a 13th century English country resort with two golf courses and a high level of leisure and group business.
