Piiyush Kapoor new  gm at JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort

Piiyush Kapoor has been appointed as the general manager for JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort and Spa, Marriott International’s first JW Marriott resort in India. A seasoned hotelier, Kapoor brings close to two decades of proficiency in the hospitality industry.

Kapoor has been associated with leading domestic and international brands holding key positions which have further sharpened his expertise. His journey as a leader in the hospitality industry started in 2007 with Holiday Inn, Manali followed by Crowne Plaza, Mussoorie and The Lalit, Jaipur. He takes over his latest mandate from being general manager at Radisson Blue Udaipur Palace Resort & Spa.


Said Salim Al-Shanfari is new ceo at Oman centre

Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre has appointed Said Salim Al-Shanfari as chief executive officer.

Al-Shanfari has rich experience working in leadership roles in marketing and communications across Oman as well as in the region. He successfully completed Oman’s National CEO Programme in 2017. The National CEO Programme benefits individuals and corporations, preparing Oman’s brightest talent to compete in the global marketplace. With his leadership skills and experience from the CEO program, Al-Shanfari aims to promote Oman and OCEC as a hub for regional and international conferences and exhibitions along with live events.

Al-Shanfari brings with him a wealth of experience as he progressed through various management positions during his eight-year tenure in Ooredoo Oman as director of business marketing and most recently as the general manager of marketing communication and performance at Omantel.

Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre won 22 International and regional congresses.


Shannon Creado joins Banyan Tree Phuket

Banyan Tree Phuket has appointed Shannon Creado as the new area director of sales and marketing. Creado’s successful career spans across 24 years, including 20 years in sales and marketing. He brings extensive experience across Asia.

Born and educated in India, Creado began his hospitality career in 1999, rising through the ranks until he became director of sales and marketing for Goa Marriott Resort in 2006. He later took on similar positions in other Marriott resorts in Asia, as well as Anantara and MINOR Hotels. These positions, located in South Korea, Sri Lanka, India and Thailand, have allowed Creado to increase his familiarity with the extended Asian market.

Creado has received several awards and accolades during the course of his career including the “Young Hotel Sales & Marketing Manager of the Year” Award from the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India, as well as Marriott International’s Chairman’s Circle Award. He was also “Manager of the Year” in Marriott’s first year of operation in India.


Simeon Olle moves to Waldorf Astoria Bangkok

Simeon Olle has been appointed as the general manager of Waldorf Astoria Bangkok. Prior to joining Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, Olle served as general manager of the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund from 2012 to 2016.

Olle has more than 30 years’ experience in the hospitality sector and is known for launching luxury hotels, including the opening of The Address Downtown Dubai, Park Hyatt Beijing and Park Hyatt Seoul.


Dumbell new GM of Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel

Nicholas Dumbell is now the general manager of Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel.

He joins Renaissance Mumbai from Bengaluru Whitefield Marriott where he served as general manager since 2014. During his previous stint, he was awarded the ‘General Manager of the year 2016’ title by Marriott International, Asia Pacific. Previously, he was closely involved in the conceptual development and design of the Renaissance Kiev Hotel and also led Breadsall Priory Marriott Hotel and Country Club, a 13th century English country resort with two golf courses and a high level of leisure and group business.

A true multi-cultural global citizen born in Brunei to Mauritian and British parents, Nick grew-up as an expat in five different Asian countries, attended secondary school in the UK and completed his higher education with a bachelor degree at the Cornell Hotel School in the USA.


Keith Tan is new CEO of Singapore Tourism Board

Keith Tan Kean Loong has been appointed the chief executive of the Singapore Tourism Board, with effect from October 29.  Tan is currently the deputy secretary (policy) of the Ministry of Defence.

In his current role, Tan is in charge of defence policy, strategic communications, national education and total defence. Tan has played a major role in strengthening Singapore’s defence relations with key international partners, enhancing the Defence Ministry’s strategic communications capabilities and partnerships with the private sector. Tan has also helped to grow the ministry’s public and social media engagement efforts as well as overseeing application of data analytics in public communications and policy making.

Prior to his position in the Ministry of Defence, Tan held various senior leadership positions including senior director, PS21 Office at public service division, institute director, Institute of Governance & Policy at Civil Service College and director of the foreign economic policy division at the Ministry of Trade and Industry.


Sneha Jha is DoS at JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu

JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu have appointed Sneha Jha as director of sales. Before joining the JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu, Jha was at Holiday Inn Mumbai where she was responsible for exploring revenue, generating opportunities and securing successful positioning for the hospitality brand.

With an Executive MBA degree from Wellingkar Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, and a degree in hospitality management from the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition, Bengaluru, she ventured into the hospitality industry with  Oberoi Hotels, Mumbai in 2000. This exposure as a trainee gave her a foothold in the industry, following which she showcased excellence at The Leela Kempinski, Mumbai; Taj Rambagh Palace, Taj Lands End, Taj Mahal Palace and Towers and Intercontinental the Lalit, where Sneha forayed into the dynamic sector of marketing.


Neliswa Nkani heads Mumbai office of South Africa Tourism

South Africa Tourism (SAT) has announced the appointment of Neliswa Nkani as hub head for the Middle East, India and South East Asia to be based in Mumbai.

Hanneli Slabber, the erstwhile SAT head for the region, now takes charge as general manager Asia, Australasia and Middle East for South Africa Tourism. The event of Nkani’s appointment was attended by Sthembiso Dlamini, chief operating officer (COO), South African Tourism along with ML Ramokgopa, Consul General — South African Consulate, Mumbai.


Bikash Gautam wins new role at Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Road

Bikash Gautam has been appointed director of sales at Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Road.

Gautam began his career with ITC Fortune Hotels Pune as assistant sales manager. He has also been extensively associated with Marriott Hotels India Pvt Ltd. Prior to joining Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Road, he was director of sales and marketing at Novotel Guwahati GS Road.


Hema Hariramani is new hotel manager of Westin Mumbai Garden City

Hema Hariramani has been appointed hotel manager at The Westin Mumbai Garden City. Hariramani has 18 years experience in hospitality and in her new role, she is responsible for the operational management of the hotel.

Hariramani began her career with Marriott in 2000 as a sales manager at the Marriott Executive Apartments and then moved on to being a pre-opening member of the Renaissance Mumbai Hotel and Convention Center where she was instrumental in driving the medical segment to have Renaissance in their preferred list of hotels. From January 2011 until April 2014, Hariramani was the director of sales & marketing for the JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu.

Hema received the prestigious “Hotelier India Award” for the “Best Marketing & PR Person of the Year” during her stint at JW Marriott Mumbai.


Jangaria on course as GM in Bengaluru

Firoz Jangaria has been appointed general manager at Renaissance  Race Course Hotel. Jangaria brings over 15 years’ experience with expertise in hospitality operations and management.

Prior to this role, Jangaria was responsible for Accor Hotels openings in India. He has also worked overseas in the Middle East and the United Kingdom. He is an alumnus of IHMES, United Kingdom.


Elroy Tulkar takes over at Sheraton Grand Bengaluru

Elroy Tulkar has been appointed director of operations at Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center. With over a decade of experience in the hospitality industry, Elroy has worked in both the Indian and international markets.

Tulkar began his career with Taj Exotic, Goa. He has also been extensively associated with Hyatt Hotels India where he has worked with Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa and Grand Hyatt Dubai. Prior to joining Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel and Convention Center, he was cluster executive assistant manager – food & beverage and marketing at Jumeriah Hotels – Al Seef by Meraas Dubai.
