Neliswa Nkani heads Mumbai office of South Africa Tourism

South Africa Tourism (SAT) has announced the appointment of Neliswa Nkani as hub head for the Middle East, India and South East Asia to be based in Mumbai.

Hanneli Slabber, the erstwhile SAT head for the region, now takes charge as general manager Asia, Australasia and Middle East for South Africa Tourism. The event of Nkani’s appointment was attended by Sthembiso Dlamini, chief operating officer (COO), South African Tourism along with ML Ramokgopa, Consul General — South African Consulate, Mumbai.

Bikash Gautam wins new role at Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Road

Bikash Gautam has been appointed director of sales at Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Road.

Gautam began his career with ITC Fortune Hotels Pune as assistant sales manager. He has also been extensively associated with Marriott Hotels India Pvt Ltd. Prior to joining Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Road, he was director of sales and marketing at Novotel Guwahati GS Road.

Hema Hariramani is new hotel manager of Westin Mumbai Garden City

Hema Hariramani has been appointed hotel manager at The Westin Mumbai Garden City. Hariramani has 18 years experience in hospitality and in her new role, she is responsible for the operational management of the hotel.

Hariramani began her career with Marriott in 2000 as a sales manager at the Marriott Executive Apartments and then moved on to being a pre-opening member of the Renaissance Mumbai Hotel and Convention Center where she was instrumental in driving the medical segment to have Renaissance in their preferred list of hotels. From January 2011 until April 2014, Hariramani was the director of sales & marketing for the JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu.

Hema received the prestigious “Hotelier India Award” for the “Best Marketing & PR Person of the Year” during her stint at JW Marriott Mumbai.

Jangaria on course as GM in Bengaluru

Firoz Jangaria has been appointed general manager at Renaissance  Race Course Hotel. Jangaria brings over 15 years’ experience with expertise in hospitality operations and management.

Prior to this role, Jangaria was responsible for Accor Hotels openings in India. He has also worked overseas in the Middle East and the United Kingdom. He is an alumnus of IHMES, United Kingdom.

Elroy Tulkar takes over at Sheraton Grand Bengaluru

Elroy Tulkar has been appointed director of operations at Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center. With over a decade of experience in the hospitality industry, Elroy has worked in both the Indian and international markets.

Tulkar began his career with Taj Exotic, Goa. He has also been extensively associated with Hyatt Hotels India where he has worked with Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa and Grand Hyatt Dubai. Prior to joining Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel and Convention Center, he was cluster executive assistant manager – food & beverage and marketing at Jumeriah Hotels – Al Seef by Meraas Dubai.

Suhas Diwase is new MD for Maharashtra

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has appointed Suhas Diwase as its new managing director. Diwase is also working as the chairman and managing director of Maharashtra State Warehousing Corporation. He holds a Master’s degree in horticulture. He has also studied public administration from The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore. Currently he is pursuing PhD in Disaster Management.

Marc Gussing is new GM for JW Marriott Maldives

Marc Gussing has been appointed as the general manager at JW Marriott Maldives. Gussing brings over 20 years of illustrious industry exposure in the luxury segment. He has been part of both city and hotel settings, corporate organisations and independent properties across the globe.

Prior to joining JW Marriott Maldives, Gussing was GM at Minor Hotels in the Maldives. Over the past decade he has worked as GM and hospitality consultant for Per AQUUM, Jumeirah Hotels and Resorts, ALiLA, Paresa, and Nira Hotels & Resorts. Gussing’s career has taken him across Europe, the Middle East, Indian Ocean and South East Asia.

A Swedish national with four languages, on completing his tertiary schooling in hotel management in Switzerland, he spent his early years as a hotelier predominantly in the food and beverage division, working in a selection of hotels, bars and on cruise liners.

Suchitra Sirirak promoted to GM at U Chiang Mai

Absolute Hotel Services has announced the promotion of Suchitra Sirirak to general manager of U Chiang Mai. The group manages the Eastin Grand, U Hotels & Resorts, Travelodge and Vienna House hospitality brands across several destinations in Asia.

Sirirak joined Absolute Hotel Services in 2015 as the public relations manager at U Sathorn Bangkok, the group’s flagship 5-star hotel, and she has since shown strong professional skills in both communications and in hospitality management. In 2017 she was promoted to executive assistant manager of U Sathorn Bangkok.

Sirirak has extensive experience working in hotel management for organisations such as Centara Hotels & Resorts, The Peninsula Bangkok and The Siam Luxury Suites and Villas.

Apoorva Maheshwari to head up marketing at AccorHotels India

AccorHotels has appointed Apoorva Maheshwari as the director of marketing for AccorHotels India. In this role, Maheshwari will be responsible to lead the marketing activities for the growing portfolio of brands in the country.

Maheshwari holds close to a decade of diverse consumer and brand marketing experience across industries including FMCG and E-Commerce. She has managed brands and led marketing campaigns for multinational and Indian firms including P&G, Lodha Group and Zivame in varying capacities.

She holds a post-graduate diploma in communication management with a specialization in brand management from the Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad. Her strengths are building effective teams, driving brand strategy and innovation and creating compelling marketing communication. Her knowledge around both conventional and unconventional ways of brand building has contributed to some of the most disruptive and fastest growing brands in the country.

Ho Mun Hoong directs events at Raffles Hotel Singapore

Raffles Hotel Singapore has appointed Ho Mun Hoong as the director of events, overseeing the management and operations of the hotel’s events team including event planning and execution.

Mun Hoong has more than 25 years of event experience in hospitality, most recently as the director of catering and conferences services at the Four Seasons Hotel Singapore. He brings extensive meetings, social events and operational knowledge to his new role at this iconic property which will introduce new event spaces for corporate events, weddings and social gatherings after undergoing a careful and sensitive restoration.

Ramzy Fenianos joins Radisson to drive development

Radisson Hotel Group has appointed Ramzy Fenianos as chief development officer, Asia Pacific. Fenianos will be based at the company’s Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore and will also be a member of the Asia Pacific executive committee. He will oversee all aspects of the group’s regional development activities, including leading the Asia Pacific development team in identifying new opportunities to drive growth and strategic expansion of the hotel portfolio.

With more than 15 years of experience in the real estate and hospitality sectors, Fenianos has held key positions with several major companies, including Dubai Holding Group, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and Minor Hotel Group.

Fenianos is fluent in three languages, French, English and Arabic and holds a Masters in Real Estate Finance from Ecole Superieure des Professions Immobiliere (ESPI) and an Advanced Certificate in Real Estate & Hotel Investment from Cornell University. Most recently, he was vice-president development, EMEA, for Minor Hotels. Based in Dubai, he headed the company’s development office for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and successfully closed multiple hotel deals in the region.

Pranay Verdia steps up to lead three Courtyard by Marriott hotels

Marriott International has appointed Pranay Verdia as general manager for three Courtyard by Marriott properties: Bengaluru Outer Ring Road, Bengaluru Outer Ring Road and Bengaluru Rajajinagar. Verdia has more than 19 years of experience in hospitality and has been associated with various properties of Marriott International across India.

Prior to Marriott, he has worked at Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai and Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa in different roles. He started his journey in hospitality at Hotel Sofitel Ummed, Ahmedabad in 1998.

Verdia joined the Marriott group in 2000 at Renaissance Mumbai Hotel & Convention Centre and Marriott Executive Apartments and opened the first Fairfield by Marriott in Asia Pacific – Fairfield by Marriott Bengaluru Rajajinagar in 2013. Verdia’s most recent assignment was at Goa Marriott Resort and Spa as general manager. He graduated from the Institute of Hotel Management Catering & Nutrition, Pusa, New Delhi.
