Penang and MyCEB offer subvention and rewards programmes for event organisers

Penang Convention and Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) has launched Privilege Penang – a new support programme to attract inbound meetings, conferences and incentives.

Privilege Penang offers a range of benefits tiered to suit various sizes of events. They include the hosting of welcome functions with local cuisine and half-day guided tours and Privilege Penang’s support packages are valued up to €20,000 (US$22,306) for events hosted in the north-west Malaysian city. These subvention programmes aim to encourage conference organisers and meeting planners to host their business events in Penang.

PCEB has also collaborated with its airline partner Malaysia Airlines, adding greater value to the Privilege Penang programme. Eligible events can enjoy benefits such as having Malaysia Airlines as the official airline for their events, discounted rates for site inspection trips, hosting of speakers and buyers and special rates for Malaysia Airlines’ inflight advertising platform.

Penang has performed very well in the MICE sector, hosting more than 200 international meetings attracting 106,265 international delegates in 2018. Penang has convention space capacity of 30,000 delegates and 14,389 star-rated hotel rooms.

In addition, Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) has also launched Twin Deal V, a rewards programme where event planners will be able to reap the benefits in the form of rewards by bringing in more corporate meetings and incentives to Malaysia. MyCEB supported 300 business events hosting 162,623 conference delegates with visitor expenditure touching (Malaysian Ringgit) RM1.05 billion in 2018.
